Admissions/ Application Requirements
Incoming students at Spelman College SAT scores range from 460 (25th percentile) to 550 (75th percentile). On the Verbal section of the SAT, students score between 480 (25th) and 560 (75th).
If you are a first-year student applying for admission to Spelman College, you must make sure the following items are submitted:
- Your completed application, either printed or submitted online
- A $35 nonrefundable paper application fee or a $25 nonrefundable online application fee
- High school transcripts must be in a sealed envelope, forwarded from your high school guidance office
- Your personal essay
- SAT I or ACT scores, forwarded from the Educational Testing Service or the ACT Reporting Service
- Two letters of recommendation. If you apply online, remember to print and complete the counselor and teacher recommendation forms
Online Requirements
The non-refundable $25 fee is required to process an online application for admission. You can submit the online application without the payment, but it cannot be reviewed for an admission decision until the payment is received in the Office of Admissions.
If you elect to pay this fee after submitting the online application, you will need to send the payment by mail. You will not be able to go back into the online application to pay the fee. The payment can be in the form of a check, money order, or official application fee waiver (College Board or NACAC). Your payment, or the signed waiver form, should be submitted along with your full name and date of birth to ensure proper matching to your application file.
